This year?’s Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2. Large green bins will be located at the Vancouver Utilities Services building at 2323 General Anderson Rd (south of Fourth Plain Blvd). We will have two different bins ?– one for bulky garbage items and one for yard debris. Bulky garbage items include such things as broken furniture, unusable screen doors and worn-out patio equipment. It is not to be used for the disposal of Hazardous Waste.
Resource Conservation Challenge:
Each year, on Clean-Up Day, there is a lot of stuff thrown away that could be re-used or recycled. This year, the City is challenging neighborhoods to reduce the amount of reusable or recyclable materials that we put in the bins (and, eventually, the landfill) on Clean-Up Day. Please read the following information and help us do our part:
?• Corrugated Cardboard ?– Flatten boxes and cut down to 3 feet by 3
feet and place them curbside next to your recycle bin. Don?’t include
waxed cardboard or food-contaminated cardboard.
?• Major Appliance ?– During the month of April, residents of the Fourth
Plain Village Neighborhood are eligible for a free, scheduled pick-up
of two non-working major appliances, such as a refrigerator,
dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. Call 619- 4120 to schedule your
pick-up.
?• Scrap Metal ?– We are in need of someone who is able to pick-up all of
the scrap metal that we collect on Clean-Up Day. If you, or someone
you know, can help with this task, please e-mail Judith or Heather at
chair@fpvna.org
?• Neighborhood ?“Free?” Sale ?– Before they are crushed by the garbage
truck, we will be setting aside any items in good working condition.
These items are free for the taking and neighbors are welcome to
peruse the area throughout the day. At the end of the day, we will
take anything left to Goodwill.
Please e-mail Judith or Heather, at chair@fpvna.org, if you need help transporting your debris, if you would like to volunteer to help during the day, or if you have any questions.
Thank you.
