Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Well, we've studied the newest revision of the planned development at Timberline/Caribou/ Stoney Creek. We have made an ENORMOUS impact on this project, but still have a ways to go before we can celebrate. The city has greed NOT to put Stonegate all the way through from Timberline to Stoney Creek. Instead, Stonegate will come from Timberline, into the parking lot. The rest of the way is now bike path and picnic area. The parking lot will also open up to Caribou, and hopefully the trucks will take that route out
of the project. They have added an egress on the North end opening onto Stoney Creek, but we feel rather confident that most of the people who use
that egress will be Sunstone people visiting the neighborhood center.
The developer has also agreed to put two more single family homes facing Stoney Creek, so now we have 10 instead of 8. BUT at the corner we STILL don't have houses. They have eliminated the retail store there, thank goodness, but now want to put in a four plex apartment rental unit. We don't consider that "like facing like" and still passionately believe that they can put in two more single family homes as easily as this rental building.
The project will go before a hearings officer as soon as the developer has all the plans submitted. We will have two weeks notice and hopefully we will have time to organize a meeting of the entire neighborhood to plan our strategy. You can see that we have made a HUGE difference in this project much to the surprise of those who said we couldn't and we wouldn't. BUT WE DID. And I need you to keep that passion just a little bit longer. Stay with us, come to this neighborhood meeting once we call it, and then to the hearing. It will be vital to our cause to have the room PACKED with neighbors who support us and will speak for this. Once they agree to put two more houses down the front instead of retail or rental, we can celebrate. We have made huge changes - just one to go. You are all awesome. Stay with me!!!!!!
