The Directory Is Ready!

The newly updated FERA directory has been finalized. Thanks to all of you who gave updates. Hopefully, you will find this directory helpful, as Franklin Estates has expanded and changed since the last publication in 2003!

For those of you receiving this message from a webpage link, I have attached the directory to the original email. The document is in pdf format, so you should not have any software programming issues in opening it.

We don't like to publicize the directory by placing it on this site, so if you are a FERA member and would like to request an e-copy, please contact Monica Diacopoulos at FranklinEstates@hotmail.com. Additionally, if you know of a resident without email access who would need a copy of the directory, please feel free to make a copy for them, or have them contact Monica Diacopoulos. Printing costs are $4.00 per copy.

Halloween Festivities

Due to input from parents over the past few years, we will be experimenting with a new twist to our Halloween festivities this year. Instead of the parade being held immediately before trick-or-treat, we will be holding it on a separate day. This will hopefully allow us to enjoy an afternoon together without being rushed home from work and school, then rushed again for trick-or-treat.

The Franklin Estates parade will be held on Sunday, October 30th at 2:30 p.m. beginning at Arlington and Lexington. The route will go down Lexington Court and end at the cul-de-sac. Thank you in advance to the residents of the cul-de-sac for your hospitality in sharing the street with all of us!!

A few of us plan on meeting on Monday, October 17th at 9:30 a.m. at Panera in Walnut Hollow to discuss specifics of the parade. We welcome volunteers who would like to help with the parade, as well as come meet us out for morning coffee and fun. If you would like to join us, please contact Monica Diacopoulos at 724-327-6568 so we know who to expect in case there is an unexpected change of plans for our meeting.

More details about the parade will be communicated once we gather our team together and come up with some ideas to continue to make the parade a fun neighborhood experience.

A reminder that the kids LOVE to parade IN FRONT of others. So, even if you don't have children or if your kids have grandparents who would like to see the little ones in the parade, please set your chairs up along Lexington Court prior to 2:30 and enjoy the smiles!

Franklin Estates Expansion

Chris Rearick, the Director of Community Development for Murrysville Municipality, informed FERA President, Rich Mickel that there has been no communications with IDC (the builder of FE expansion project for the end of Mt. Vernon) and the municipality. Chris expected that the builder would apply for their permits to move the equipment in after they were given the green light back in July, but they never have. He said he will get in touch with IDC and follow-up. At this point, Chris doesn't think any work will start until the spring.

We were hoping to have an inaugural Halloween event at the new park this year, but it looks like we'll have to wait at least another year before that will take place!

Best regards,
Monica Diacopoulos
