Garage Sale - Update listed within Document 9/14/06

The garage sale is taking place this Saturday, September 16th from 8 a.m. to Noon. Please feel free to put up balloons, signs or any other attention-grabbing item to alert passers-by that you are participating in the sale. We expect most of the traffic to be in the early hours of the event, so be ready-to-go bright and early!

If you would like tips on having a garage sale, you may reference the Pennysaver's website at http://www.pittsburghpennysaver.com/ Most importantly, don't forget to have change (both coins and small bills) available!

Also, if you have unsold items at day's end that you would like to donate, one frequent organization that stops in our neighborhood quite often is the Vietnam Vets. To schedule a pick-up at your home, you may call them at the number listed on their website at http://www.clothingdonations.org/accepted.htm

9/14/06 UPDATE:

Well, just when you thought one mistake by the Pennysaver last year (placing our ad the week earlier than our event) couldn't happen again, IT DID! The Pennysaver, although they confirmed that the ad would be run on 9/13, they did not place the ad in its latest edition. Even though ads are their specialty, they have a process issue that omitted our ad!

To remedy the situation, they are running ads on both Friday and Saturday for the AM and PM editions of both the Pittsburgh and Greensburg editions of the Tribune Review. They will also credit us the monies, once again, that we can use for next year's garage sale. They advised me to contact a Manager next year when placing the ad to ensure that is properly placed!

I have posted signs in some local businesses, and Carolyn Franks will be placing some more along the road.

Annual Meeting

FERA's Business Meeting will be held on Monday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Export (it's on the same side of the street as the Export Post Office, yet next door to the Italian Club). The agenda will include updates to the expansion of Franklin Estates & Route 22 corridor, as well as election of new officers. Again, without new officers, FERA will go into a state of dormancy since both remaining officers are resigning from their posts at the end of September.

Halloween Parade

Dress your kids in their Halloween costumes for the Halloween Parade and let them strut their stuff down Jefferson Street. The parade will start at the top of Jefferson at Mt. Vernon at 2:30 pm. on Sunday, October 29th, with the finale ending at Jefferson by the Mt Vernon deadend.

The parade finale will include fun, friends and food! Please bring a snack to share with everyone. BYOB for yourself and your kids.

The Steelers game starts at 4:15, so we will be "tailgating" as well. Even if you don't have kids participating in the parade, please come out and join the fun!

Trick or treat will follow the Municipality's schedule of 10/31 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Lost Keys

About 1 month ago, one of our neighbors lost a set a keys in the neighborhood. If you found them, please turn them into to Monica Diacopoulos @ 286 Jefferson or to Rich Mickel at 2374 Mt. Vernon.
