Welcome!
This site is dedicated to informing you of the many volunteer efforts in support of local communities. The goal is to keep you informed of upcoming opportunities, should you want to become involved.
So if you are interested in participating in a fund-raising walk, to work on a Habitat for Humanity house or donating the afternoon to support a good cause, take a few moments to look at the sites listed below.
Please click on a link below for a list of the scheduled community events or to submit a new event.
Points of Light Foundation and the Volunteer Center National Network have teamed up to bring you this website that allows volunteers to search for opportunities near you!
Volunteer Match's database allows volunteers to search thousands of one-time & ongoing volunteer opportunities by zip code, category, & date. Volunteers can signup automatically by e-mail for those that fit their interest & schedule. Contributing organizations post their own opportunities, giving volunteers easy access to an accurate & diverse source of activities including, walk-a-thons, beach day clean-ups, tutoring, home building, meal deliveries and more.
Go to http://www.ridetransit.org/planning/west/index.htm to find updates on the refined alternatives (including an updated map) on Freedom, Wilkinson and West Boulevard, links to other sites including the American Public transportation Association, the Federal Transit Administration, the State's Rail site (including more on the multimodal facility in Charlotte), and transit technologies. You'll also find a speaker request form for your neighborhood group.
We hope to have our next public meeting later this spring. Thanks for your
interest in the West Corridor Transit Studies.
