Harvey Bear - Coyote Lake County Park is an exquisite county park.  It runs from north of San Martin Avenue in San Martin to parts of Roop Road in Gilroy.  It includes 4,595 acres mostly in the hills above the Santa Clara Valley floor.  It has access points on San Martin Avenue on the valley floor between New and Foothill Avenues, off Roop Road and from Coyote Lake County Park, off Roop Road.  There are 22.5 miles miles of trails, mostly multi use (equestrian, bicycle and hikers) with more in progress.  Most of the trails are the width of ranch roads.  There are a few single track trais.  It is replete with springs and seep as well as Coyote Lake.  The park includes campsites at Coyote Lake in addition to fishing and boating opportunities. 

There are spectacular views of Sanata Clara Valley and Coyote Lake. 

In the spring the park is an emerald green dotted with numerous wildflwers.  Summer can be hot, sometimes over 100 degrees.  At that time, the park is more pleasant either early in the morning or in the afternoons and evenings.  The park is open from dawn to dusk, although equestrian access is limited to no earlier than 8 am.
