Oregon City Cleanup Event

Mar 06, 2001

Planning for the 14th annual Oregon City / SOLV Cleanup event is well underway. On Saturday, April 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Oregon City residents, eager to begin spring cleaning, must report to Clackamette Park first to pick up vouchers for the Metro South Transfer Station. After receiving a voucher at Clackamette Park residents can proceed to the Transfer Station to drop waste. Vouchers, which are valid April 21st through 29th, will entitle Oregon City residents to dispose of household garbage and recyclables.
This includes household hazardous waste, yard debris, scrap metal, tires, block foam (#6 only), appliances and motorized equipment (e.g. refrigerators and mowers).
Enhancement projects will also take place on April 21st at parks throughout the city. Volunteers from SOLV and local neighborhood associations will be picking up litter, cleaning up public landscape and planting trees and shrubs. Last year over 580 citizens took advantage of this successful event. In addition,
there were over 200 volunteers who collectively beautified the city of Oregon City.
Del Bullock, event chairman, was thrilled with last year?’s community involvement and would like to see even more local business involvement this year. ?“We are petitioning local businesses to take part in the beautification process by cleaning up their storefronts.?” Del has been involved since the beginning of the Cleanup event that originally started as a result of a small group of Oregon City residents who wanted to
extend ?“spring cleaning?” to their beloved city. To volunteer, call SOLV at 503-844-9571. For more
information call Oregon City Public Works at 503-657-8241.
