National Night Out Celebration
On Tuesday, August 7th, Gaffney Lane N.A. participated in National Night Out (N.N.O.) and the turn out was great! Nationally, N.N.O. is an event that generates support for, and participation in local anti-crime programs. It also strengthens the bond between police/fire and the community at large. Most importantly, it is a way to ?“just come on out and meet your neighbors!?” Not only was GLNA participating in its own gathering, but so were neighborhoods throughout Oregon City, the state and the country.
GLNA hosted a dessert potluck at Gaffney Lane Elementary with plenty of activities to entertain everyone. The children participated in several games where everyone was a winner! New this year was a jungle bouncer which was a big hit with the kids. Little kids and big kids alike got the chance to meet Oregon City Police Officers and firefighters with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. Adults got the opportunity to understand what Gaffney Lane N.A. is all about, as well as reviewing proposed land use development within our boundaries.
We would like to thank all the neighbors for coming out and bringing a wonderful dessert to share with everyone. A big thank you to the Mayor, City Commissioners, the City Manager and City staff for paying us a visit. A great big thanks to all our Police and Fire personnel for coming and making it a great time for everyone. Hope to see everyone again next August!
