The September 20, 2001, General Membership meeting of Gaffney Lane Neighborhood
Association (GLNA) was called to order by Chairman, Derrick Beneville at 7:05 p.m. Nine
people were in attendance. The following is a summarized version of the minutes:
Speakers:
* Bryan Cosgrove, Assistant City Manager, discussed the County Island annexations and
the history leading up to the ballot measure.
Unfinished Business:
* GLNA still needs a representative for the Chiefs Advisory Board which meets the 3rd
Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the 7th Street fire station.
* National Night Out in August was a success again this year.
* The pathway between Meyers Road and Castleberry Loop is a closed issue for the
neighborhood and the City.
* Treasurer?’s report: Checking account balance is $72.69, Savings account balance is $501.81 for a total of $574.50.
* Land Use report: an update was given on partitions happening.
* Citizen Involvement Council Committee report: all neighborhood associations within Oregon City are looking to expand their boundaries
New Business:
* A nominating committee was formed and includes: Joan Schultz, Derrick Beneville and Carolyn Orlando.
* There was a presentation of the proposed boundary expansion to GLNA as outlined by
the CICC. There was a general consensus to expand the boundaries.
* Jeff Rubins with TVF&R is the suggested speaker for the November meeting to speak about preparedness for national disasters.
* Construction meetings for the Molalla Street Improvements will begin September 25,2001.
* Marcia Sinclair with the Environmental Learning Center and Newell Creek outreach program offers tours of Newell Creek for anyone who would like to learn about this wilderness area in our backyard. Call her at 503-657-6958.
* The next meeting will be held November 15, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. at Gaffney Lane Elementary School.
* Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
