You may have heard our elected Cecil County Commissioners voted 3-2 to again deny Delaware developer Bill Stritzinger his Aston Pointe water and sewer amendment demand. While a victory, this will not be the end of the fight to preserve our community. You can support ARCA or get on ARCA?’s email list by contacting Andrea Haley: 410-392-2395 andrea3483@comcast.net

Glen Farms and Tara Civic Association maintain a website at www.glenfarms.org with a good variety of news and links available. We REALLY need a new volunteer who can coordinate this for us as friend Cheryl Finnan has moved. Web site remains rudderless until YOU step forward. Don verrico?’s Glen Farms email list is growing and you can add or update your contact: dverrico@comcast.net
GFCA Community Watch team is still going strong, serving our community, but would welcome some new volunteers. Call Director Trish Maslar if you can help with patrolling or coordinating our Neighborhood Watch program. Our Glen Farms area remains a safe and friendly place to live in large part due to the ongoing efforts of volunteers like Trish and YOU.
Sheriff Janney's office has assigned DFC Michael Davis to our area and as our contact for the "tip line." He can be reached at 410-996-5500. Ask for him and they will connect you to him if he is available or to his voice mail. If a quick response is needed, ask to speak to someone else on duty.
Newsletter ideas, corrections, and submissions are always welcome. Contact any board member or this editor if you have ideas, skills, or just the desire to volunteer. We will be glad to have your help!
If you know of new neighbors or materials for inclusion in Welcome Wagon packets, contact GFCA volunteer Maggie Welshmer at maggiew@udel.edu or 410-392-3132 with the news.
Play Groups - Glen Farms director Jen Van Landingham wants everyone to know about the growing popularity of the play groups organized by area parents. All are welcome. Call Jen!
Hurricane Katrina survivors need our help! Many of us remember being dealt a glancing blow from a hurricane as recently as 1999 and 2003 here in Cecil County. We were lucky to lose just a few trees and power lines, with maybe a wet basement or two; but nothing like our friends in the Gulf states are currently experiencing. Millions of Americans have been affected and thousands homeless and jobless.
Your Civic Association Board has voted to donate $500 to this worthy cause.
If you are able to help further, you may donate or volunteer through:
~American Red Cross www.redcross.org or call 1-800-HELP-NOW
~Salvation Army at www.800salarmy.org or phone 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
~If you can offer space in your home for displaced folks: www.hurricanehousing.org where
150,000 beds have already been listed.
Feel like patronizing Cecil County Businesses? See http://www.cecilbusiness.org/agrifarm.html for convenient sources for lots of local agricultural products.
Have services to offer your neighbors? Do you provide leaf raking, snow blowing, babysitting, dog walking, gutters and such? Contact any GFCA Board member for consideration to be listed among our service providers or volunteers. Also, let us know of events we should list in this newsletter or on website.
