?• The Community Directory is ready ! ?– Paid GFCA members will be receiving their new directories already and anyone else who wants a copy can call or write Russ Holland whom we thank for spending endless hours gathering and compiling data for this new edition. A nominal $1 charge must be made beyond one new directory to each paid household.
?• Emergency Services ?– A long way from Elkton, our residents must rely upon services which have recently been reported to have taken a long time to arrive. Your GFCA board has resolved to offer County and volunteer emergency responders maps and copies of our new Community Directory to help them navigate our neighborhood streets. If you need help, call 911, turn on your lights, and put someone outside to lead the responders in. GFCA continues to make donations to the volunteers at Singerly and Aetna, and hope neighbors consider individual support as well. These folks face increasingly difficult challenges in our expanding County.
?• Lake George ?– Open dawn to dusk for hiking, fishing, boating and picnicking; Lake George Park has seen steady improvements due to the efforts of your GFCA Lake Committee volunteers. If you know about pond ecosystems, can offer help with planting, or are willing to donate hardy native perennials for our Lake George committee, contact directors Csaba or Mike.
?• The George E. Brinton Memorial Park ?– In the woods between West and North Parkway, your community park offers opportunities for recreation ?– with more to come! A nice badminton/volleyball net, a newly reconditioned tennis court, and a basketball court are open each day until dusk. Contact any board member if you can help with GFCA?’s Park Committee or have ideas or contributions to move us forward.
?• Back to school ?– Our kids are walking back and forth from the bus stops again. As days get shorter and visibility during commuting times becomes more difficult, take a few minutes to review your roadside for weed and shrub encroachments. Trimming vegetation is an easy way to help safeguard those using Glen Farms streets whether driving, biking or walking.
