Citizens On Patrol

Oct 09, 2000

It was recently brout to our attention that some of the residents felt that the C.O.P. was to blame for them being cited, warned or tagged for city code or ordinance violations. First, this is not correct. If you are told this, you are being misinformed. It is NOT the C.O.P.s place to report code or ordinance violations to the city. We are the eyes and ears of the neighborhood to let the Houston Police Department know if we witness a crime in progress. C.O.P. does not intercede in domestice disputes, investigate crimes that have already occured, etc...
If you willfully violate city codes, laws, or ordinances and get caught, you have noone to blame but yourself. The News Box makes every attempt to keep you informed about laws, codes, and ordinances because we dont want you to get a visit from the city. However, utimately, you are responsible for your own actions.
The C.O.P. is NOT the police, we are simply your neighbors with another set of eyes that drive up and down our streets and make our selfs available to our neighbors and the authorities.
