How do you like that new fence around Gooch Elementary? Hey, we?’re looking better and better!!
We?’ve been pretty busy lately:
More than 100 students participated in our Reading at Home program in the first 6 weeks of school. This means they met a goal for their grade of reading outside of school and got to attend a party during the school day.
We marched in the W. T. White Homecoming parade ?– the theme this year was New York, New York, and we used the Lion King as inspiration for our float.
Following the parade, we had Family Movie Night where parents and kids ate hot dogs and popcorn while watching movies at school.
The Science Fair is December 13, and the following week will be the annual Winter Holiday programs.
Boxtop$ -- We?’re still collecting Boxtop$ for Education (they come on all kinds of food products). So, if you clip and want to donate, please call me at 214.906.1959, and I?’ll pick them up. Or drop them by the school and ask that they be put in the PTA box.
Spring is just around the corner! I know that sounds funny right now, but it will be here before you know it! Late April is when we?’re planning our Spring Carnival and Silent Auction. If you have a product or service you?’d like to donate for the Silent Auction, please let us know.
We?’re always looking for volunteers ?– to tutor, help out with snack sales or other PTA events, to help teachers with special projects. If you?’re interested, either contact the librarian, Ms Conner, at the school (972.794.2500), or let me know. We?’ll put you to work!
If you don?’t?’ have time but want to donate money to the PTA (we?’re a 501C and therefore tax-deductible), we?’ll use it to support the Science Fair, add books to the library, provide incentives for the reading program and many other activities.
We are proud to be Gooch Gators ?– and hope you are too!
