Enroll In the Amateur Radio Operator's Technician Licensing Class Today!
The amateur radio technician licensing class will be hosted by the Glendora Emergency Response Communications group of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glendora, CA on Aug 13 & 14, 2004. The public is cordially invited to partctipate in this intensive weekend course,
The instructor is Andy Johnston, W6LDS, who holds an Amateur Extra class license. Teaching informal memorization technquies, coupled with practicing sample tests, Andy's students have been very successful in earning their radio operator's license, thus allowing them to serve as communicators in times of emergencies.
Becoming a Ham
The FCC exam does not require Morse code, and the class is designed for those with no technical or math background. The Technician license qualifies you to transmit on many frequencies, including those that are used by the Glendora Emergency Response Communications network.
Test Details
The test has 35 multiple-choice questions and no time limit. You can miss up to 9 questions! (74% correct) The questions are taken from official FCC "pool" of 510 questions. Each possible question is in the book along with the correct answers, explanations, graphics and memory aids. There are no surprise questions ever! Most of the questions are based on common sense rules similar to a DMV test.
Class Dates & Times:
Friday, 8/13/04. Refreshments at 6:30 PM, class from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Saturday, 8/14/04. Continental Breakfast 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM start to 4:30 PM w/lunch.
Test Date (separate $12 fee required):
Wednesday, 8/18/04 , 7:00 pm. Typically, it takes less than ?½ hour to complete the exam.
Location: Oakbank Building, 120 N. Oakbank Street, Glendora, CA. 91741. (across from Citrus College)
Class Fee:
The instruction is free, the text book is $13 and the Saturday luncheon is $5.00.
Please note that the 35 question FCC exam on Aug 18 cost $12 per test session.
