NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AUGUST 1
National Night Out is celebrated annually in communities across the country as a visual statement that neighborhoods are safer if many people are outside enjoying themselves and getting to know their neighbors. The Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association will again join many other central Denver communities in affirming this statement on August 1 at 7:00 p.m.
A walking tour, similar to the historic tour led at last year's event by local historian Paul Goodstein, will be featured. At this writing the tour guide has not been confirmed, but be assured that the tour will be no less entertaining than Phil's great performance. We will meet at PSI Charter School for light refreshments and some introductory remarks by the tour guide. Bring flashlights and possibly umbrellas (no rain date) for our stroll through the neighborhood. The tour will end about 9:00 p.m. at Pint's Pub for some socializing (cash bar).
Residents will receive a flyer under their doors during July with the program information and other details. Anyone who wants to enjoy a safer neighborhood including GTNA members, Golden Triangle business people, property owners, residents, and friends are welcome to attend. Please call the GTNA office, 303-572-0605 if you want further details.
The Good Neighbor Committee has organized the National Night Out tour. There is no cost to you for the event. Expenses are paid from the funds raised by volunteers who staffed our beer pavilion at the recent Blues & Bones Festival. Your RSVP at the GTNA office by July 21 will make the planning much easier.
Blues & Bones Fundraiser Success
The saying goes that eighty percent of the works gets done by twenty percent of the people. The Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association is fortunate to have more than its share of those movers and shakers who get the work done. At the recent Denver Blues and Bones Festival those volunteers raised $3,500 by pouring suds in GTNA's beer pavilion. Additionally, they raised another $1,500 in tips. The Golden Triangle Arts District staffed two of the seven shifts and received a proportionate amount of the proceeds to add to their coffers. Some of the GTNA funds will be used for a cash match in a grant to redevelop the Sunken Gardens Park and for the National Night Out event.
The energetic and capable co-chairs of the fundraiser were David Pellegrin, owner of The Fine Dinging Company on Bannock, and Andrew Moss, board member and architect with Semple, Brown Roberts. Not only did they also organize the volunteers, they also recruited their wives, friends and co-workers to help. Thank you David and Andrew.
