Brent Snyder was elected to the GTNA board in March. His involvement with the association goes back to 1994 when he joined the committee which developed the neighborhood plan.

Brent has acquired a number of properties in the Golden Triangle during the past seven years; he currently owns or is involved in the ownership of 10 properties. He built the Century Lofts in 1998 and is now remodeling a building at 1100 Acoma where he move his offices, along with other tenants, this fall.

Snyder feels that development in the Golden Triangle is taking a different direction that the vision of the neighborhood plan. The concept of mid-rise has given way to high-rises, which is allowed by zoning but creates a different playing field. Land prices have risen dramatically, resulting is larger developments with more density. He says this is not necessarily good or bad, just different than the earlier concept of three to four floors with commercial uses at street level.

Brent has seen other changes. The city has relaxed it's enforcement of the parking requirement for retail. He had originally wanted to include retail in the Century Lofts, but it was not economically feasible based on the parking requirement. Building security was another factor in the mid 1990's with a perception of higher crime. Now the openness of ground floor retail is more feasible in both perception and fact.

Brent's wife has owned and operated a store in Larimer Square, Mariel, for 15 years. His two children are five and seven years old. Dennis Kenny, his father-in-law owns two businesses in the Golden Triangle and lives with his wife, Joanna, in the Century Lofts. Ann Kenny, Brent's sister-in-law, owns Gateaux Bakery.

With all this involvement in the Golden Triangle, Brent Snyder is committed to the neighborhood and is an asset to the board of directors.
