Voter Registration ! ! If You Are NOT registered to vote, you may do so at the GOLES office. In the past, elections have been narrowly decided by less than 300 votes. This is especially true of City Council elections. As another example, just look at what happened in our national election for the Presidency. Our elected President, if you remember, prevailed by a re-count in Florida with less than 600 votes.
This year is very important for as many of us as possible to participate in the public elections. We will be deciding new City Council members, various city and state reforms and we will be selecting a new mayor. NOW is the time that we can effectively exercise our legal right to vote and voice our wanted decisions for our futures.
GOLES works to inform our community of their rights, but we, as a community, must use this resource so that we can better empower ourselves. What is necessary is to study well the social and political platforms that are being offered, and then to vote with confidence!
