Meeting Minutes Feb 2008

Mar 17, 2008

Hello GPA,

This is an update to our February meeting we had.

1. Ridge Proposal at Blue Hills Cemetery-

Kelly Phelan from the Conservation Commission told me that this spring / April 2008 the company who was contracted to conduct a study and determine if the Ridge property was Wetlands will conduct the final phase of the study. They will check this depression to see if is holding water, plant life, and if it is a vernal pool with frogs, or some other type of life living in it. This will be the final phase of the study.

The Conservation Commission already established from the companies initial report that the property does fall under the Braintree Wetlands Act. This means that the Conservation Commission has jurisdiction over the development of the property. If Ridge wanted to do something with the property he would need to go back before the Con. Comm. He has not filed anything to do so. He has not filed with the State either.

The new Con. Comm has not been appointed by Mayor Sullivan yet. It is coming soon, I was told.

2. Plaza expansion. Nordstroms Store Proposal- Planning Board-

The first public hearing on this will take place on Tuesday March 25, 2008 at Town Hall before our newly appointed Planning Board. It is important that all GPA members attend this meeting.

The GPA executive Board will be holding a meeting this week to discuss ideas for a proposal. See your street captains or Executive Board members with your ideas.

Representatives Charles Ryan and Chuck Kokoros are interested in our ideas and proposal. When I spoke with them they are eager to support the GPA.

We want to put a unified proposal in the hands of the planning board and Plaza officials that benefits the Granite Park neighborhood.

3. Mass Highway-

I am drafting a letter to send Mass Highway Officials regarding various concerns brought to our attention by GPA members. This letter would ask that an Official from the Mass Highway Dept. come to a GPA meeting and address concerns of residents, i.e. Five Corners Timing of the lights, Noisy man hole covers, crosswalk access or lack of at Kindercare, cleanliness of RT. 37 and posting signs at Brooks Drive indicating access to Randolph from Granite St. to alleviate some traffic from our neighborhood, Davis and Addison.

4. Mayor Sullivan at next meeting-

I have been in contact with Mark Cusick, who is the Mayors Aide and person who schedules the Mayors time. I am waiting on available dates for May 2008.

5.Next GPA meeting is tentative for May 2008. I will inform everyone ASAP.

Please email me if you have any questions.

Thank you

Duane Keegan
