THE OWLS
Our September business meeting at the Lodge was one of good food and good cheer. It was a covered dish luncheon with the members bringing their favorite dishes. The meeting room was most attractive. The hosts were Irwin and Emma Loud and Marilyn Rau, and decorations were provided by Jerry Baldridge. The theme was ?“back to school?”, and overall a first class
accomplishment.
You will soon be able to recognize us in and around the Great Northwest. Judy Stubbs and Janet Doherty are working on designing an O.W.L.S tee shirt that will have an identifiable emblem. When you see us wearing the tee shirts and we want you to talk to us and ask what we do. The entertainment program of our meeting day was sensational. Our president Dorothy Atkisson had taken a conducted tour of Italy this spring. The tour had a professional photographer who made videos and photographs of the
tour.
Italy has so many wonderful historical monuments, statues, buildings and works of art that one never tires of looking at them. We in the audience took a visual tour of Rome, Florence, Pisa, and Venice. Venice is a beautiful city with no streets, just canals where all commerce and travel are accomplished by boat. Across the famous Bridge of Sighs is the prison where Casanova was imprisoned. So many wonderful sights! The O.W.L.S welcomed another new member new member in September. She is Noi Stringer. We are pleased to welcome you Noi and look forward to your company.
On the 25th of this month the OWLS went to the races at Retama Park. This is one of our favorite things to do. We go every September. The good food in the clubhouse and excitement make a great evening and we always have a good turnout If you are retired, single or couples, live in the Great Northwest and would like to join the O.W.L.S please call the lodge at 681 2983.
