GNW Parks Committee

Sep 08, 2003

I finally did it. I attended a Great Northwest Parks Committee Meeting. When I moved back to the GNW last year I set a goal to get involved in the community...but I hadn?’t yet. When last month?’s Passages featured a discussion by our Community Manager, Kathy Smith, addressing the rights and responsibilities of the homeowners in this community, I knew it was time to get up and help out.

I did not know the other people in the small group I met at the meeting but I felt welcome and valuable. I found out that all the parks have needs and I can help. Each park is important but finances and manpower limit how much can be done at any specific time.

Right now: Help is needed with a survey to decide how to best use the Emerald Valley tennis courts. The survey will be available to all residents during September. It can be returned to the association office or to mailboxes located at each swimming pool and tennis court facility. Volunteers are needed to go door to door to distribute and collect the survey to insure the most input possible. Input is needed from everyone, especially those who do or would use this facility. Also in September the committee plans to set a date to layout the walking trail in the Silver Creek Park.

In August: The committee painted over graffiti on tables and benches at the Emerald Creek and Ridge Creek Parks. Keeping the parks beautiful is everyone?’s job. For more information on volunteering for future GNW Parks events, please contact the Lodge at 681-2983.
