Based on a conversation with Buddy Tawes, some changes have been made to the Code Enforcement rules with regard to vehicles getting tagged and towed. It seems the verbage on the current law was challenged in court. While a new version with the correct wording is being rewritten, Code Enforcement has been advised to change the way they handle those vehicles.
The new rule requires (it isn't a law, just a temporary rule) that ALL 4 OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO TOW A VEHICLE OFF PRIVATE PROPERTY:
1. The vehicle must be inoperative.
2. It must be at least partially dismantled.
3. It is not currently tagged & licensed.
4. It must be considered a bleight issue.
If ALL 4 CRITERIA are not met, Code Enforcement cannot tag & tow the vehicle.
