Opinion.
It?’s been mentioned in the news that an overpass should or will be built at University and Beach.
Sure it takes a while to get through this intersection, but investments have been made, new drug store, gas station and the remodeling of the furniture store building. This is a most viable part of Englewood?’s business community.
Less than a quarter of a mile away from this hot spot is the Hart Expressway. If money should be spent, it should be spent here. Correct the interchange at Hart and University by revamping this interchange to make it more useful and provide a safer way to get on and off Hart at University?
If the city really wants to improve on the road system, how about an Emerson to Hart and Hart to Emerson ramp that will accommodate traffic to the East (not every one is going or coming from downtown)?
A University/Beach overpass may placate commuters, but please don?’t let it kill the businesses in Englewood.
It?’s my opinion that an overpass would be the end of business expansion at this location. "Just say NO!"
