Englewood was the only district to vote NO on the Better Jacksonville Plan.
However, because it was passed we now have a chance to finance projects Englewood has wanted.
Members of GENA, the neighborhood association have formed a committee to discuss and draw up plans for for visual improvements.
All improvements are to come out of the Trust Fund made available by the passing of the Better Jacksonville Plan, except areas set aside for beautification by GENA.
Areas of Englewood addressed are the Englewood Circle, the Spring Glen Road west of the circle, the vacant land at the west end of Spring Glen Road.
Also a program to enhance Spring Park Road from Emerson Street south past the Englewood Circle.
As you know, Spring Park Road is slated to be improved by providing curb and gutter, bike paths, sidewalks and the general reinstallation of a new road.
For the Englewood Circle we desire all of the ground be covered by brick. The brick will have a pattern yet to be selected. Every walkway landing from the circle's outside will be handicaped accessable. The crosswalk itself will be brick.
There will be round cut outs for the trees and cut outs for flower plantings.
At one crossing yet to be determined, a crosswalk traffic light will be installed. If we can convince the City, we want a "talking crosswalk light" for the handicaped.
(this will apply to the intersection lights at Spring Park Circle, Spring Glen Road and Spring Park Circle).
The enhancement program (Antique) for Spring Park Road is described elsewhere.

P. S. Remember, these are wants and not needs. All other improvements need to come out of other budgets.
