Fifteen Women Nominated for Women of Character Award

Fifteen women have been nominated this year for the Women of Character Award. The annual event, sponsored by the Greater Hilltop Community Development Corporation, honors women for the significant contributions they have made to the Hilltop community.

This year's nominees are Eunice Askew, Diane Wendel Baker, Stacy Berndsen, Sharon Bridgewater, Barbara Clark, Cecelia Haughn, Annette Jefferson,
Nancy Lenihan, Marjorie Milam, Ruby Olsen, Betty Regan, Betty Ruby,
Rosemary Rasor, Rev. Charlene Watkins, P Weaver.

This will be the 10-year anniversary of the program. It will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2000 from 2 to 4 PM. The event will take place in the auditorium of the ODOT Building, 1980 West Broad Street, the State Office Complex.

Our guest speaker will be Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, the 15th Congressional District. Congresswoman Pryce will speak about her life experiences and make the awards presentations.

A fabulous desert reception will follow the program and guests will able to view a special art exhibit presented by the members of The Greater Hilltop Area League for the Arts (GHALA).

Tickets for the event are $15 each, and may be purchased or ordered at the Greater Hilltop Community Development Center, 276-0060. Proceeds from the event support the activities of the GHCDC.
