G. H. A. N. A. NEWS JUNE 2001
-------------------------------------------------
Greater Hogan Area Neighborhood Association, Inc.

Welcome to all residents of our Greater Hogan Neighborhood. We are busy working to maintain and improve this place we call home.

This is your chance. Your neighborhood is bursting at the seams and GHANA has its finger on the pulse.

Jacksonville is expanding at a record pace and your front yard could be next. Come to the next meeting on June 12 at 7:00 P.M. and hear the facts and the gossip. There are big changes in store for South Jacksonville and our neighborhood is in the bull's eye of the target zone. Improvements and/or degradation include but are not limited to shopping malls, apartment complexes, restaurants, stores, businesses, water, sewer and last but not least roadways. This is a time of record growth and the continuity of our neighborhood is at stake with every step.
- Your Chairman, Scott Yantes

With the election of a new Chairman, Scott Yantes, and officers at our last meeting, we established three Vice-Chair positions to concentrate our efforts in main areas of immediate concern - Environment, Families & Elders, and Administration.

The ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP Vice-chair Mrs. Geri Johnson and Co-Vice-Chair Mr. Ralph Saffy are recruiting volunteers from creek-side waterfront property owners, as a task force to address concerns such as pollution and restricted flow of Little Pottsburg Creek. Anyone interested in joining this effort call Geri at 724-7067.

The ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP is also forming a task force on the Public Works water and sewer upgrade being planned for the Lofberg Dr.-Hazel Dr.-Emily Ln. area. This will mean torn up streets and disruption of normal neighborhood activities for a long period of time. We are determined to be allowed a seat at the table to ensure that this project is planned and completed with a minimum of inconvenience and maximum benefits. Call Geri if interested.

The FAMILIES & ELDERS Vice-Chair Mr. James Anderson and Co-Vice-Chair Mr. Bill Brown are continuing a project which has been in the hands of Bill Brown for the past several years. Bill keeps us current with the reports from the Health Department regarding pollution levels in the ground water (wells). Bill will continue this valuable work and advise us as to any changes.
