Greenspring II

AREAS OF CONCERNS

Residents of Greenspring II community located in city of Greenbelt developed this information to identify and discuss issues affecting our neighborhood.  Our goal is to have neighbors reach consensus on the problem and formulate a possible solution.

Many of us are becoming increasingly concerned with the general state & future outlook of our neighborhood.

Our streets, neighbors & overall neighborhood initially had been a quiet place which we were proud of & feel comfortable enough to consider this to be our LONG TERM place of residence as well as feeling free to allow our kids to play without having to worry about drug trafficking, crimes or general riff raffs.

As neighbors we are partnering a petition to establish and increase awareness of drug activities, burglaries, trespassing, loitering etc.  Homeowners are encouraged to contact and report suspicious activities to Greenbelt Police, HOA-Home Owners Association and Greenbelt City Council.  However some of us have expressed inconsistencies with the Greenbelt Police Dept for some number of years.   Reinstating the HOA guidelines to clean up our neighborhood & hold the owners  &  property management accountable for keeping up the covenants, conditions & restrictions and bylaws  that are already established by law for our community and surroundings well being.

How will this affect you as a homeowner if nothing is done?

Below is a brief list of some of the occurrences which have already happened or are happening & have raised alarm in the neighborhood. We petition your help to clean up the area in which you reside & to return our neighborhood clean & safe for our children, our selves and our community.

  • Drugs being sold from homes, cars, vans, bushes & dark areas in neighborhood as well as cul-de-sac by 7-Eleven, along the fences  and by the back of church
  • Burglaries, vandalism, trespassing, loitering & broken fences are of major concerns
  • Increased traffic during evenings & late nights at high speeds in the streets
  • Doing nothing allows opportunity for drug users to support their habits at our expense
  • Our neighborhood will be consider high risk, loans and refinancing will have a greater impact on interest rate
  • Our home value depreciate at a higher rate; NOT appreciating causing…
  • Market value declining at a greater percentage
  • An increase in home foreclosures
  • NO one will want to buy homes or live in our neighborhood
  • Leaving Neighborhood more accessible & appealing for drug dealers to conduct business

Our property tax rates are not declining but our property is….

We are proposing a meeting initially with homeowners along with City Council Member, Home Owner Association and  Greenbelt Police for a consist resolution.

SIGN THE PETITION to help promote a safe neighborhood

By signing the petition we agree to live in a drug free, crime free, safe and clean neighborhood.
