ORCHARD EAST O'K'ED

"Persistence Pays to Those Who Persist," said President Bill Philipps, as the City Land Use Board March 13th approved the Orchard East Project at Kirby and Messick Roads Slated for February 13th, developer Ralph Smith requested a 30-day delay to try to reconcile differences. This was achieved after the developer agreed to views of Greentrees Civic Association, Green Shadows Home Owners Assn and Keswick- Stornaway Civic Assn.
VP Mark White presented GCA's position in his letter of January 30, listing points adopted in the January 22nd meeting. This letter and his March 13th report to members were put on GCA's Website by Webmaster Pam Brown, and are enclosed.President Phillips expressed appreciation to Mr. Smith, VP White, the groups mentioned, and others who helped reach agreement on the project. "Hopefully, agreements reached will govern future land development east to McVay Road," he added. "Luckily, there was a voice to air concerns of homeowners," said Phillips, "and I urge non-members to join with us by sending in their $25.00 Annual Dues."

PROGRESS ON K. P'WAY:
Work continues on improvements to KP from Quince Ave. north to Messick Road. Delayed by State failure to get needed permits, work is almost completed on that part of the six-lane road crossing Howard's Creek. A red light at Stout Road and KP came some months ago at urging of the Keswick-Stornaway Civic Association. Blinking red lights have been installed at KP and Messick between The Greenbrier and the recently approve Orchard East development. The project should be finished soon. When it is, Kirby Road will become a cul-de-sac south of Messick.

Curbs on Greentrees streets as they intersect KP have been altered to permit handicap access.

REALTOR'S LETTER ANGERS RESIDENTS:

In March John Roebuck Associates, Inc. wrote a letter to residents in the Greentrees Area, offering their services to anyone interested in selling their real estate in view of changes underway in the area. Residents voiced their displeasure to President Bill Phillips, who wrote the firm on GCA letterhead, expressing his objections to tactics used by this firm.

As of April 8th, he has not had a response, though several residents have had a letter from John Roebuck, head of the firm, apologizing for their ill-advised letter and stating a recurrence would not happen.
