Greentrees needs your help!

It?’s not easy getting city officials to listen
and pay attention to our needs!

When the Greentrees Board Members go before the City Council or other governing boards, we need to have at least 80% of our neighbors supporting us. The higher our membership, the more authority we have in civic matters. It is not just your $25.00 that we need.
We need your head count!

The Greentrees Civic Association is working hard:

?· To maintain property values
?· To monitor the number of rental homes
?· To reduce speeding traffic on Kirby Parkway
?· To maintain the Kirby parkway median
?· To maintain our beautiful Holmes park
?· To keep our neighborhood safe.

Won?’t you consider supporting your neighborhood by sending $25.00 to the Greentrees Civic Association? Or at least, won?’t you use the enclosed envelope to tell us why you won?’t join or what the Greentrees Civic Association can do to get your support? If you have a complaint or have had a problem with us,
NOW is your chance to speak!

Greentrees Directory

The new Directory of addresses and phone numbers of Greentrees Residents is ready for distribution. There is a little confusion about who may receive it and how it will be publicized. The following resolution passed by the Board should help to clarify this issue:

?“Each and every issue of the Greentrees Newsletter sent prior to the first annual General Membership Meeting will include the following statements:
?· The Greentrees newsletter will be available to those Association members whose dues have been paid for the current year;
?· The Greentrees Directory will be available only to those Association members whose dues have been paid for the current year;
?· The (first) newsletter of each year will be sent to every Greentrees residence within the neighborhood boundaries (to alert the residents that subsequent newsletters will be sent only to dues paying members).?”

A Message from our Outgoing President ?– Russell Hill

Miscellaneous
?· We have a young lady in our neighborhood that was named 2006 Miss Youth Personality at the Mid-South Fair last fall. She is Whitney Robinson, age 14. She is the daughter of Porter and
Alexa Robinson who live on Hickory Crest Drive.

?· A neighbor on Wild Berry Lane called to let us know someone had gone into her storage room and stolen yard equipment and some tools. The storage room door was not locked. We strongly encourage everyone to lock all doors and windows. The police have indicated that thieves wander through neighborhoods at night and try doors on houses and storage rooms to see if they can easily steal something. Sometimes it is kids looking for items to sell to buy drugs, cigarettes, or beer. Locking doors is very important and will drastically reduce your chances of being a robbery victim.
?· We would like mention that the Greentrees Garden Club meets the third Wednesday of the month and new members are always invited and welcome. Check with Joan Vegezzi (754-5485) for the time and place of the January Meeting.
?· Art Herr hopes to return to the security patrol soon but we still need volunteers to assist in this endeavor. Contact Art if you can help at 757-8860. Recent incidents include break-ins on Old Lake Pike and on River Birch.
?· Per city ordinance NO SIGNS ARE ALLOWED ON THE KIRBY PARKWAY MEDIAN. Police are notified whenever the code is violated.
?· Treasurer?’s Report: Greentrees CA has $29,054.05 in its checking account as well as 2 CDs totaling $10,579.47, for a grand total of $39,633.52.
?· The Greentrees Holiday Party on December 10 was a great success. The progressive dinner began at Ann and Ed Brown?’s with drinks/punch/bountiful snacks, a super pianist, a sing-a-long of holiday favorites, and much cheer. We all then proceeded to Wilma Goode?’s for a sit-down catered supper (who, but Wilma, would find room for everyone to have a place to sit at a table to enjoy the wonderful food?). Finally we went to Joan and John Vegezzi?’s for a final round of eating. A grand array of desserts, coffee, after dinner drinks and other sundry items were offered there. Everyone received a poinsettia as they left at the end of a very special evening. Approximately 40 people attended.
