Welcome to the Hampshire Hills Neighborhood

Living Here

When you move to Hampshire Hills--

Your neighbors are sure you will enjoy your new home in this lovely, quiet neighborhood.

Join us for neighborhood monthly meetings for fellowship and information on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. (except in July and August) at Greater Providence Baptist Church, 2000 Milton Road. We have refreshments, plan neighborhood events, communicate important information, hear police reports about neighborhood activity and tackle improvements such as street lighting and crime watch. You are urged to attend to make friends and see what we do.

Here are some things you will need to know about Hampshire Hills:

We have a community park at the corner of Somersworth and Kelsey, known as Unity Park. There you will find playground equipment for small children, tennis courts and a ball field. Regulations are posted at the entrance.

Garbage is collected on Friday. Do not put your container on the street more than 24 hours in advance of the morning pickup. It must be removed from the street by that evening. Be sure you place the container so that the lid opening faces the street. Do not place your recycling can or yard waste too close to it or else the truck cannot pick it up. For bulky items that will not fit in the trash container, call 311 to schedule a pickup. See the booklet for more tips on dealing with your trash.

Hampshire Hills is fully committed to enforcing zoning and housing codes. Residents can be reported and fined for illegally parking on the lawn, failing to observe trash collection regulations, failing to keep grass and weeds cut and neglecting exterior home maintenance.

Bus service is close by. The #3 bus route goes downtown on the Plaza and at certain times through the neighborhood on Barrington. The #29 bus goes north to the University of North Carolina_Charlotte from the corner of Barrington and the Plaza and south to Eastland Mall and Southpark Mall. You can check schedules and route details at http://wirelesscats.ridetransit.org/BusSchedules.

Our police district is North Tryon. The station is at 4045-B North Tryon St. For emergencies and to report suspicious activity, call 911. Meet your community police officers at the monthly neighborhood meetings.

We vote at Devonshire School, 6500 Barrington Dr. Your precinct is 104. You reside in city Council District #5, County Commission District #4, School Board District #4, North Carolina House of Representatives District 99, NC State Senate District #40 and North Carolina Congressional District #12. If you are not registered to vote in this precinct, you may do so at any branch library.
