When we first started this crime watch, we passed out flyers to every house in our Crime Watch Reporting Area. After continuing to do this for a long time, we finally had to make a change and began to only pass out flyers to streets that had a Block Captain in charge of passing out flyers to their assigned area.
At this time, we have only had six people that are willing to pass out flyers in our neighborhood. With 989 homes in our Reporting Area and several businesses, it would be unfair for only six people to take on the entire job. After speaking with another Crime Watch Chairman, she told me that she changed how she notified people about their meetings. After she explained what she did, it seemed the best way at this point in time to get as many people notified that we could.
What we are doing is getting flyers to anyone in our area that has ever been to a meeting or that I have their information on file. The people that will get these flyers are the ones that I do not have a good e-mail address for. For everyone that I have a good e-mail address for, this is how you will be notified of the meeting and will not be receiving a flyer.
I delivered several of those flyers today, 8/26. However, the other people that will be passing out the remaining flyers won't be doing that before tomorrow at the earliest.
We will continue using this way for notification until there are enough people who can help us get other flyers out to the neighborhood.
Thanks!
