Our first meeting was a great success. We had approximately 135 people there, with 121 signing up as members. Sheriff Kent Henson, Constable Belton Havard and Deputy Danny Anders were there answer questions and give us their support. We were also introduced to Sergio Estrada, who is our contact at DETCOG. We were promised funding from DETCOG to secure Neighborhood Watch signs for our community. However, the funding would not be available until October.
Many citizens expressed their concerns about drug activity in our neighborhoods, burglary, and of course our horse theft and late night ATV riders. Sheriff Henson assured us that patrols would be stepped up in the area and the problems would be taken care of if we committed to reporting incidents each time they happened.
I think everyone enjoyed getting to meet many of their neighbors and learn just what had been going on in our area.
Much thanks to Pastor Ronnie Frankens for allowing us to meet at the Pentecostal Church!
