Our second meeting was held on September 13, 2005 at the Homer Methodist Church. Many thanks to the Noels for arranging for the use of the Fellowship Hall.
Attendance dropped to less than 100 for this meeting, which was disappointing, but at the same time we had several new members. Our subject for the evening was "Recognizing Suspicious Behavior". Brian Holley was our Sheriff's office representative for the night. After my presentation he was gracious enough to answer member's questions and concerns.
It was very evident after only one month in existance, that our Crimewatch has been very successful. There were no reported incidents of horse theft, and only a couple of incidents of "missing" items, and the number of loitering teenagers and partygoers has been reduced. However, the problem of late night ATV riders has not been corrected. According to Deputy Holley, there isnt a whole lot we can do, except KEEP REPORTING IT, because you never know when a deputy may be able to catch them in the act. So DONT GIVE UP FOLKS!
I made available several helpful handouts which are still available at each meeting if you missed them this time. They range from home security issues to a list to help you begin to record all your property serial numbers and personal identification information. Just let me know if you need copies.
