Randy Barnes, Deputy Sheriff Jefferson County: Randy lives in Golden Meadows and became the liaison for our area to become more involved with the community. He offered several informational brochures: National Night Out, Leash Laws, Identity Theft and the Curfew Law. They offer seminars for crime prevention and avoiding identity theft. The main # to the Sheriff?’s office: 303-271-0211.

Todd Moore, Captain ICFD and Spokes Person for Community Wildfire Protection Plan: Todd gave a power point presentation about the roles and the process of the department, board, community and the county to get grants from the federal government to aid in protection from wild fires. Some things the community can do is to mitigate your property, apply for grants through the FD (the process is still getting worked out), improve access roads and talk with your neighbors. He is developing a core team to help with public education and will have a link to our website soon. He can be reached through ICFD main # or pager # 303-851- 0483.

Norm Lewis, Homestead Water Co: The water mandates have become more specific over the years and more rules have been incorporated. Testing for and filtering estrogen is the latest. It takes more time and money to meet these requirements. He has been adding calcium to the water to coat the pipes to help prevent lead and copper getting into the water. Lead pipes were banned in 1987. He has also increased the pH of the water to make it ?“softer?”. There mixed feelings as to using water-softeners. Norm says the salt used in these systems decreases the necessary anaerobic metabolism in the leech field. This could decrease the life of the leech field by 50%.
The # for Homestead Water Co: 303- 674- 7777.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be posted on the website.
