Hausman Road/Flood Improvements

Mar 05, 2009

After several e-mails to the Federal Government, State Government, County Government, City Government, I believe we gotter done.... The county will construct three bridges 125 feet long each over the creeks on Hausman Road and raise the road and make a drainage channel. The below e-mail was sent after a meeting with the county:

I would like to thank Arturo Villarreal Jr from the Flood Control Division Bexar County Infrastructure Services and his support staff for the meeting on March 5, 2009 with Hunters Brook Homeowners. I was surprised at there quick response by the County Officials to correct the flooding of our homes on Rustling Brook and surrounding areas.

The City of San Antonio dragged its feet and stated it would have to be a bond issue and even failed to place the flooding/road improvements on a bond. We know even if the issue was past and approved it seems that the bonds are not completed for several years while individuals homes continue to be flooded with less and less rain.

I am asking the City of San Antonio to act fast and provide additional funding with the counties project to make Hausman Road four lanes rather then the proposed two lane bridges..

The UTSA Sports complex Phase I on Hausman road is also scheduled for 2011, along with next years senior class at Brandies High School will over whelm an already extremely busy roads of Hausman and Babcock. The county project will start in the spring of 2011, I hope the City can provide additional funds for this project to fix the infrastructure around the UTSA Sports Complex and UTSA Campus expansions, which will add to the flooding and traffic in the area.

During the Cities meeting with the area residence on this important UTSA Sports Complex and Main Campus Expansions, City Counsel women D, Ciberan/District 8, the main topic by the area residence was the surrounding infrastructure, roadways around these major projects. These issues need to be addressed with this Hausman Drainage Project now so it will fit with the UTSA expansion projects in 2011.

Hunters Brook HOA will sign any paperwork for the right of way for the construction of the drainage easement needed to complete the project.

Judge Wolfe, please thank your staff and I hope the city will support this project since it will only benefit and support the UTSA projects and the community.

I think the City and UTSA would gain more support for these projects by addressing these issues around this fast growing area.

Thankyou
James Warren
