Kewanee Trails Park

Feb 21, 2001

It?’s Here, It?’s Here?…?…...If you have driven down by the duck pond you will see the beginnings of Kewannee Trails Park. After two years of planning and hard work by several influential people the ground breaking has finally happened. Kewannee Trails park will be the home of a new pavilion, basketball court, children's play area, fishing pier and nature walk trails. This park will be a dawn to dusk facility with minimal parking. The completion of the park is set for the summer of 2001. A new addition to the area will be a sidewalk to the park that was also approved in the County?’s budget for next fiscal year, beginning October 1st. The sidewalk will run 1100 feet from north of the bridge to 180 feet south of Talbot Road. It will also include a pedestrian bridge. The park has been designed to be a passive park with no electricity, water or organized sports. The maintenance on the park will be provided by Seminole county and is to include but not limited to the following. Mowing will be 35 times a year, with trash pick up twice weekly and a roving crew will maintain the equipment trails, etc. Casselberry police as well as Seminole County Sheriffs Department have both agreed to patrol the park. We look forward to spending our annual Indian Hills Picnic at the new park and watching all the children and adults play and enjoy a wonderful addition and gift to this association. Keep in mind that children will be playing, riding bikes and walking on Kewannee Trail, so slow down and obey the speed limit. Save a life it may be your child.
