To the best of my ability and means, I want to act on my faith for the good of others.
I cannot know and support all the things that are needed to overcome hunger and poverty but I can surely do something.
Daily to Pray or Meditate -- I can memorize a prayer or inspiring quote for daily prayer or meditation such as this one: Dear God, teach my heart to share your love of people in need.
Weekly to Learn -- I can read a story or article about the plight of people in need, or watch a film. Discuss it with my friends. Or, I can walk or ride through a stressed neighborhood. Familiarize myself with the houses and streets.
Monthly to Work and Give -- I can volunteer my time and talents. Get to know someone in need. Or, I can write a letter on a public issue. Or, participate in a walk or vigil. Or, make a contribution.
Yearly to Reflect -- I can reflect on the priorities of my life. Consider what changes in my time, money, and influence are possible. Tell my friends how good it feels to do good things for others. Ask my congregation to faciliate the practice of generosity on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
