After years of hard work by our good friend and professional planner Paul Graziano and the KPCA zoning committee, the KPCA area is finally about to be rezoned. The new zoning, called contextual zoning, will more closely match the way the neighborhood has developed over the years. Although the application is being officially submitted by City Planning it is primarily an adaptation of the plan submitted to them by Paul two years ago.
The first step of the ULURP is the February 14, 2005 public hearing at CB 7. The hearing will be at the Union Plaza Nursing Home at 33-23 Union Street, Flushing at 7:00 P.M. The nursing home is located just North of Northern Blvd. Anyone who would like to speak must sign up before 7:00. The more people who speak in favor of the rezoning the better it will be for our civic to have CB 7 pass it easily. Even a few simple words will help. We expect developers and their friends to be their in force to oppose the proposal so your positive input will be a balancing force. I would like to see the board pass the proposal with a unanimous 'yes' vote. Joe Amoroso, Zoning Chairman
