LCON Meeting Minutes from 8Sep2005
Members present: Linda Thomas, David Kaelin, Ann Wooldrige, Mary Rose Evans, Judy Nichols, Mike Zanonf, Stephen Porter, Jeralene Frazier, Janet Jernigan, Kim Marlett, Sherri Chandler, Ed Hammond, Mary Garry, Luther Brown, Jr., Gail Linville, Jack Francis, and Leah McKinley.
Guest and speaker: Laura Curry.
Meeting was called to order at 6:35pm by President, Linda Thomas. Light meal was by Pizza Hut.
Steve Porter - general counsel for the Board of Directors from the Tucker Station Neighborhood Association reported that a ruling made by the Attorney General stated that the pre-application for a zoning permit can be made available to the public. Previously the final application was made to the public about 4 to 6 weeks before the final hearing. Previously planning was done secretly sometimes a year prior to the hearing. As of today the city has not appealed the ruling. Steve’s phone number is 297-9991 (office) - leave message on voicemail.
Announcements:
National Neighborhood Day - September 11, 2005 - Several neighborhoods are doing something.
Volunteers are needed for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Summit - November 12, 2005 at 7:30am at Clarion Convention Center on Hurstbourne Lane. All volunteers need to be present at 7:00am.
Louisville Community Design Center has changed it’s name to Center for Neighborhoods.
Clifton Center’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday these individuals will be recognized: Alice Meriwether, Steven Tipton and Camp Edwards.
New board member: Kim Marlett.
Janet Jernigan from Just Solutions announced that with a partnership with the Department of Neighborhoods there will be workshops in October on Resolving Neighborhood Conflicts. Flyers were distributed.
Luther Brown will have surgery next month and will be out for a while. Our prayers are with him.

Determine your objects, decide who your readers are, it is good to have a computer or two, scanner - all-in-one - fax, copier and scanner, decide who will print it, decide what software you will use (MSword of MS Publisher), how often it will be published, who will print it, how many copies, where to distribute, how to fund it - advertising, sponsors, set price for ads. She distributes several different neighborhoods newsletters. One, the West Broadway Community News, was very informative. Her phone number is 836-0639.
A $47.00 donation was collected for the speaker and materials.
Thirty dollars have been received by LCON from Sherri Chandler from her earring fund raiser.
