Summary of General Meeting - March 15, 2004

Opening and Committee Reports

Suzy Glover called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.
Jake DeBusk lead the opening prayer.
Kay Ferrell read the minutes of the previous meeting. They were accepted without correction.
Cindy Nocton gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Business Items

Patrolling Update - Good participation; Gas prices are starting to affect times we can patrol.
CERT Training – is scheduled for April 10, 12 and 17 at GPTC.
Picnic plans are moving along.
Easter Basket ticket sales are progressing.
CDBG Tally – 1) park at 19th & Irwin; 2) flooding on 16th; 3) more street lights.

Guest Speaker and Closing

The guest speaker was Lt. Charles Whitis, head of Special Ops for the LPD. He told us a little about the history and purpose of his group. He explained why is seems to take so long from the time a citizen reports suspicious activity to the time an actual arrest is made. He also gave us some great statistics on the groups high success rate in busts and convictions.
