"Angels on my Door Step" by Bill Walker

By Bill Walker...

Yes there were many angels on my door step --- front and back since last March of this year. Many, many angels. Some live close by ---some further away. All came to help and all did.

As many know, my home on San Benito Way burned in March 2005. I am very thankful that our community is filled with so many angels, because in just a very short time the house was cleaned out --- charred lumber , trash and many unsalvable items were hauled away.

The reconstruction has taken awhile longer and now it is completed and ready to move in. Many things had to be done --- new roof --- new interior lumber --- new siding ---new wiring --- new sheetrock ---- new windows and so much more. There are so many business and trades people to thank for the amount of time and work they put in.
There just isn’t enough space to name all the angels who participated, but a few just have to be! Connie Powell did so much. It's hard to believe that such a fine lady could do so much work and get so many things done. Joe Beaudette's building expertise made a molehill out of a mountain. Steve Deleon's electrical know-how made everything electrical new again. Linda Calvert's pickup hauled loads and loads of building materials. A special thanks to John Loeringel who saw it was possible to rebuild; Marilyn Rynearson who was always there with the insulation; Charlotte, my neighbor who brought many meals and fans to keep us cool; Sharron Schumann who found my wife's wedding ring; Joe Stokes who volunteered a lot; Mike Sanderford who helped rebuild the rafters; Eric Johnson who helped me get a great deal on an apartment near by; Kevin and Betsy of Roadrunner Dumpster Server -- without their help the completion would still be in the future; Brian Hall of Paradise Landscape for donating and planting my new front yard.

These are just a few of the special folks and there are so many more I wish I could name them all. If I cross my eyes I get dizzy and see 1000's.

I don't know how many remember that Dallas used to be called "Big D" -- and it still is "Big D" because of Big Hearts, Big Kindness, Big Care and Big Help.

Thank you all again for your kindness. See you soon at the lake!
