New Neighbor

Posted in: Loma Linda HOA

Hello!!!

New neighbor here and had a couple of quick questions.

So this is my first time living someplace with an HOA so I am doing my best to learn everything and want to make sure I comply with any rules and regulations.

My first question is about the stray cats. I walked out to my car while moving in and there was cat sitting on my car. I also counted three different stray cats that night. So what is the best way to have them properly removed? I assume calling Polk County Animal Services. Has this been a problem in the past?

My other question is about the hurricane debris that remains in everyone's yard, mine included. Has Polk County, or whoever is responsible, given a date on when the debris will be removed by?

Thank you all in advance and happy to now call Loma Linda home!

Hello!

Welcome to the neighborhood.

All pets are supposed to be kept on a leash or under the owner's supervision when outside.  Since we want to maintain a friendly neighborhood, we assume that the cats are pets and prefer to identify the owners and speak with them about the rules before taking other action.  Animal Services takes the animals to the shelter about 1 hour on the other side of Polk County.

The hurricane debris is a challenge.  FEMA was hired to remove it, but it will be a long time before they will get to us.  We have not been given a date.  Regular yard waste is picked up if in a container of any kind and under 50 pounds.  I have been placing my hurricane debris in containers weekly, so my pile is almost gone.

I hope that helps.

Thanks so much so. We are excited to live here! :)

We keep our dog on a leash whenever he is out and about.

I am all about maintaining a friendly neighborhood and while I understand these cats might be peoples "pets" they should not be roaming the neighboorhood. None of the cats I have seen have tags or colliers, so there is no way of knowing how owns them or where they are from. I just wish people would not feed them so they don't keep coming out. It is not right that I have to be ok with them sleeping on my car and scratching it up or having them follow me or my guest into my house.

As for the hurricane debris, I have done the same and mine is all gone. I was just curious if there was a date of the large piles scattered around. It would be nice if others did what you and I did and helped reduce the piles. Oh well.

Thank you so much for the info!
