What is Systematic Theology ?

Systematic Theology sounds something like Process Theology but it's distincly different. There is probably some overlap between the two, however.

Bascially, the objective of Systematic Theology is to derive principles and methods from religious teachings and articles of faith, which can be applied to current issues and practical problems. Many systematic theologians also consider history, philosophy, ethcis and science.

Famous theologians who wrote extensively on this subject included Friedrich Schleiermacher, Paul Tillich, and Hans Kung.

Today, the term is used by many denominations; and therefore, refers to a wide range of efforts. Some seek to preserve traditional views while others develop new interpretations.

Many seminaries in Kentucky offer courses on Systematic Theology.

By contrast, Process Theology purposefully seeks a unified view of reality that crosses many disciplines of study including theology.
