There are many new happenings in the LDDI organization. We have new officers for the Board of Directors, a new administrative assistant, new database software, our first organized membership drive in a couple of years, and we are increasing the number of trash receptacles in the district by 50 percent! In addition to new Board officers (see story on page 4), Jennifer (Jen) Kelsey joined us as administrative assistant on March 20th, and I am pleased she made the decision to come on board. The same day, we started
converting all our records over to Access, our new database system. This will allow us to better track all our contacts, members, and event attendees. It should enhance our communication. Dunnigan Macllwaine and King Medlin are in the first phase of the new member drive. It should prove to be very successful at bringing in some great new people. If you know of anyone you feel should be a member, please let them know. Philip Morris has provided 25 new trash receptacles for installation in the Historic District. With the help of local merchants and Sprung Construction, the receptacles should begin to show up on the streets
later this month. That increases the total number to 75. I never thought one of my jobs would be to count trash cans!
I love my job!
