LDDI Wins First Downtown Denver Award
It's a big deal. A really big deal. In the 39 years the Downtown Denver partnership has been awarding businesses and organizations with the Downtown Denver Award, there have been thousands of nominees, hundreds of jurors and only a few recipients. This year alone, there were 64nominees and just six winners. And one of them was, for the first time, the Lower Downtown District Inc.
According to Ben Kelly, Communications Manager at the Downtown Denver Partnership, to win the Downtown Denver Award, a group or organization must "bring something new to downtown or have a project or program that makes a strong contribution."
LDDI received a collaboration award with other organizations for their holiday decorations. The Lighting of Union Station and the Holiday Experience that LDDI produced with sponsors Norwest and Wells Fargo made LDDI a co-winner of this award. Other co-winners include: 16th Street Mall Holiday Window Displays, Larimer Square Holiday Window Displays and Writer Square Holiday Window Displays.
Other winners who received the Downtown Denver Award include: the Pepsi Center, Colorado's Ocean Journey, Adams Mark Hotel, Urban Peak and Museo de Las Americas.
All award recipients took home their Downtown Denver Partnership Awards on March 1 after a banquet at the Colorado Convention Center.
