Lower Downtown District, Inc.

From the Director's Chair

Mar 27, 2000

There are a couple of issues I want to address this month. First, the upcoming Census 2000. It is important to our neighborhood and community to get an accurate count. City Council districts, transportation needs, 911 emergency systems, public improvement strategies, state, local and federal funding, and product and service needs all depend upon the Census count. The U.S. Constitution mandates a Census every ten years.

A lot has happened in Lower Downtown in the last ten years. So please answer the questions of the Census taker. If you want to help with the Census, see the story on the cover or call 1-888-325-7733.

Second, our just completed Board of Directors retreat: I want to thank all the board members who attended for their input and insight. Also, thanks to Susan Greer for facilitating the meeting. You will begin to see the fruits of our labor in the very near future. As always, I relish your input as well. Let me know how I can help. I love my job.
