Culture Around the Corner

Mar 27, 2000

Three LoDo galleries host special exhibits in conjunction with the National Council for Education in the ceramic Arts (NCECA) Conference held March 22-25 in Denver. Ron Judish Fine Arts (located at 1617 Wazee St.) will host an exhibit that focuses on one of the formal elements of ceramics: volume. The exhibit will include works in ceramics by Michael Brohman, Barbara Sorensen and Jeff Wenzel as well as the work of painter Bruce Price and sculptor Jeff Richards. Price and Richards will focus on the same "volume" issue as a point of comparison and analysis.

Robischon Gallery (located at 1740 Wazee St.) will also show ceramic work this month from nationally recognized Aspen sculptor Brad Miller and emerging artist Jeanne Quinn. The ceramic exhibits at Ron Judish Fine Arts and Robischon Gallery are both from March 4 to April 15 with opening receptions on the same evening: Thursday, March 9. But hit Robischon Gallery first?…its receptions runs from 6-8 p.m. The third LoDo gallery to join the NCECA with special ceramic exhibits is Metro State: Center for the Visual Arts (located at 1734 Wazee St.). This exhibit, High Degrees: Ceramics by Colorado Art Faculty, will include the work of 16 Colorado faculty and runs from March 10 through April 22. For March educational lectures on local architecture (sponsored by the Denver Foundation for Architecture), see the calendar on page 6.

Finally, Studio 1818 has moved to Cherry Creek. It will be missed.
