Last month in LoDo, there was cruising, hotlines, a concierge on wheels, moving and more than a little shaking. On the streets?…the Nuggets' wives cruised LoDo in more than a few limos on their way to a benefit at Sullivans last month. Tinted windows or not, spectators said they were beautiful (and probably tall). Speaking of spectators, Bob Montgomery (Acme Lofts resident and mean trumpet player) is getting a few of his own as his small jazz group hits LoDo clubs. (Wanna hear the blues? Ask Bob to put you on his mailing list of upcoming gigs by e-mailing him at bobmjazz@aol.com.)
On the move?…Zero plumbing moves out so residents can move in. Senorita's Cantina moves in to 1700 Wynkoop while Monroe and Newell Engineers plans to move from one LoDo location to another?…in a couple of months, they'll be at the Denver Union Terminal Station. Meanwhile, Boggs (everybody knows Boggs, right? The most obvious bellman at The Oxford Hotel) began his own concierge on Wheels business. Now, for a few bucks a month, you won't have to stand in line for Bruce Springsteen tickets, wait in the bar because you forgot to make reservations or sleep on the couch because you forgot a birthday. Move moving (and removing)?…the three buildings at 1501-1527 Wazee will be completely renovated and developers plan to remove the fake rock stuff that's blocking the original storefronts. This mixed-use project was kicked off at a "lava party" on February 24 where guests helped pull down plastic and took home "rocks" that even volcanic natives might confuse with the real thing. And speaking of removing things that block the beauty of LoDo, call the Graffiti Hotline at 303.640.7867 when you spot it and a crew will come out and remove it.
