The Lower Downtown Holiday Experience

Jan 14, 2000

It was cold. It was dark. It was pretty much perfect. An estimated 2,000 people showed up at 6pm on Wednesday December 1. They hung out in dropping temperatures, listened to short speeches, ooohed and ahhhed at the fireworks display, and watched the Lighting of Union Station, the kickoff of the Lower Downtown Holiday Experience.

Over a thousand more "kids" visited the station that weekend to tour the basement Winter Wonderland, a full holiday display of model trains, doll houses, and, of course, Santa.

"In 1998, we lit the Union Station for the first time," says Dan du Bois, Executive Director of LDDI. "This year, we added to the event and brought in even more families to the LoDo area. It was a great success!"

Thank you, Norwest, Wells Fargo and other sponsors?…as well as all volunteers!
