Lower Downtown District, Inc.

From the Director's Computer

Jan 14, 2000

Well, we made it to the new century. Some thought it wasn't to be. But when you are as involved in historic preservation as LDDI is, there is no alternative to showing up and doing your best. That is exactly what we intend to do.

1999 had some big challenges. 2000 has even more. I believe we made a tremendous amount of progress in 1999; launched three brand new profitable events, increased membership, improved our profile, obtained more respect and recognition in the city, and tied for first place as the most visited venue in the metropolitan area. We also managed to light Union Station for the second year of a new tradition. It was a good year to send us into the next century.

The other day, someone asked me, "Why do you do all that stuff?" Good question. And then it occurred to me the reason we do all that stuff is for our kids and grandkids. After we depart this world, what LoDo becomes will make no difference to us. But it will to our kids. That is why we have to do our very best to insure this legacy. It takes hard work, commitment, vision, involvement and execution. Looks like 2000 will be pretty exciting.

I love my job!
