Rent an Electric Car? New Hub Planned for Denver

Jun 15, 2000

It's all about options, Gwen Anderson of the Denver Union Terminal says. "The more choices you give people to use alternative forms of transportation, the better your rate of success."
One of these choices may soon be an Electric Vehicle Hub that will rent, accommodate and support electrically-powered automobiles, especially small neighborhood electric vehicles.
These hubs, which would be located at the Union Station, should (1) lessen the need for residents to own gas-powered vehicles; (2) encourage downtown workers to use public transportation and then rent the vehicles as needed for errands and meetings; and (3) provide a valuable service to visitors.
Rentals would be offered on an hourly, daily, or weekly basis with the possibility of a membership rental for residents and others with ongoing needs.
As this plan progresses, updates will be included in LoDown.
